Lewis Koch lives in Madison, Wisconsin, USA. After completing undergraduate studies in social history and philosophy, he has worked for the past twenty-five years as an artist and documentary photographer, making personal projects and exhibitions, publications and temporary public installations. His work has been shown in numerous solo exhibitions in London, Brussels, Rotterdam, Los Angeles, Chicago, New York, Seoul and elsewhere, and in various group exhibitions. Kochs photographs are included in permanent collections in the United States, Canada and Europe. Among these are Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, Maison Européenne de la Photographie, Paris, France, Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago, Staatsgalerie Stuttgart, Germany, Museet for Fotokunst, Odense, Denmark, and San Francisco Museum of Modern Art.
At the invitation of the Digital Room, this web project was conceived and designed by Lewis Koch while artist-in-residence at the Fotografisk Center, Copenhagen, Denmark, May 2001. The project was completed in direct collaboration with and technical direction by Hans Manner-Jakobsen, and support from Peter Skat-Rørdam.
