Fotografisk Center is very pleased to present Laura Stamer and her quiet, almost understated "Domestic Scenes", an exhibition based on antique interiors from different places around the world that has as its prime objective a starting point for remembrance.
"Domestic Scenes" consist of images from Denmark, Wales, Hungary, Japan and Russia. It's subject matter are open-air museums, but Laura Stamers relationship is very loose with regard to these specific locations. Focusing on clearly defined details she creates new lyrical spaces for her photographs. These are spaces that combine the light and shadow of the interiors, not least with the changing colors. In this way Laura Stamer generates a new universe that is neither Denmark nor Japan, but just pictures that radiate both familiarity (home) and abstractions (of shape and color). She has created a work entirely its own that produces familiarity with the diverse spaces.
Laura Stamer (1976) originally trained as an architect from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, supplemented by studies from Högkolan for Fotografi at Gothenburg University, Sweden and has since 2005 primarily worked as an architectural photographer. Laura Stamer participated in the "Autumn Exhibition" at Gammel Holtegaard with individual works from this exhibition. She has received several scholarships, among those from The L.F. Fogt Foundation, The Danish Arts Foundation and Margot and Thorvald Dreyers Foundation.
In conjunction with the exhibition, the book "Domestic Scenes" / "Hjemlige Billeder" will be published by Aristo.
