AUGUST 16th - SEPTEMBER 28th 2008
The Fotografisk Center is proud to present one of the gallery’s first exhibitions where photography is shown with an eclectic array of art-medium where drawing, print, object, sound and video are represented. Three broken glass sculptures by Monica Bonvicini, ‘Mind Tricker’ a video piece by Thyra Hilden and small objects by Yoko Ono being good examples. All in a show that attempts to place photography in a context that appears distant, though on close inspection resembles it very much.
The exhibition is based on Lars Schwanders’ private art collection and the title ‘My Favourite Things Vol.1’ not necessarily referring to objects most cherished, but the first part of an exhibition series where the emphasis is on the thematic. This exhibition focuses specifically on conceptual based works and objects that contain artistic sensibilities that remind us of photography. There are also works present that instigate a dialogue between different art-genres and forms of expression.
Fotografisk Center has previously shown photography with video and installation related art but never before in relatively equal measures.
Lars Schwander (1957) is founder and managing director of Fotografisk Center.
In conjunction with Kopenhagen Contemporary, September 5th – 7th, Fotografisk Center will present 3 days of sound-art and music – from avant-garde to lounge.
